Christina, St. Petersburg, FL: Wow! This soup is an understatement! I looked at a bunch of cabbage soup recipes before landing on this one and I wont be searching again. I did a few tweaks but I know the recipe as written would be just as good. I browned the sausage really well and then sauteed the onion, carrots and celery in the drippings until soft. I used reduced sodium chicken broth and still bumped the salt up a bit to about 1 tsp. I also added an extra spoon of tomato paste and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little kick. I had a bouillon cube on hand so I used that like you said and it made the broth taste so rich. It was so hearty and cozy, the potatoes held up perfect and the cabbage was tender without being mushy. Next time I will throw in another potato and serve with extra crusty bread. Thanks so much for the recipe! — 5 ★
